Do

Greet people by joining hands and saying ‘Sabaidee’.

Remove shoes when entering someone’s home and even in some shops.

Bow gently when passing in front of someone as a sign of apology.

Ask someone’s permission before taking his or her picture.

Do eat local food as it brings revenues to locals.

Don’t

Do not show signs of affection in public, which are generally considered as embarrassing.

Do not point feet at somebody or show them in front of Buddha imagery when sitting.

Do not touch the heads of children.

Do not raise your voice or show anger in public as it shows an inability to master temper.

Do not distribute gifts to children as it encourages public begging.
