On Tuesday, 1 July 2014, Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, Mari Elka Pangestu together with Garuda Indonesia’s CEO , Emirsyah Satar, officially unveiled the “Wonderful Indonesia” Logo painted on 22 of Garuda Indonesia aircrafts . The ceremony took place at Garuda’s Hangar no 2, at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, located on the outskirts of Jakarta.
The display of the Wonderful Indonesia Logo on Garuda aircraft fuselage is a follow up of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Garuda Indonesia to boost tourism to Indonesia.
The new Wonderful Indonesia Logo is painted on eleven of Garuda’s Airbus A330-200s, five Airbus A330-300s, and five Boeing B777-300ER planes, all serving the airline’s international destinations that include Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Hongkong, Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Amsterdam.
Moreover, Garuda Indonesia will continue to join the Ministry to promote Indonesia at international tourism events such as at ITB Berlin and WTM London, and sponsor media and industry fam trips.
If previously since 2008, Garuda Indonesia placed the Visit Indonesia Logo on the right side of the aircraft, the new Wonderful Indonesia logo is now painted on the left side of the plane. The new logo is a rebranding of the Visit Indonesia logo into the Wonderful Indonesia tagline, whereby the brightly colored stylized Garuda bird is maintained , and Indonesia’s official tourism promotion website: www.indonesia.travel added.
The Wonderful Indonesia tourism logo carried on its livery is Garuda ‘s contribution to tourism development in and to Indonesia, in addition to the airline’s participation in travel fairs , besides opening branch offices in various cities to create opportunities for cooperation with international tour operators.
“We are the first Indonesian airline to be included in the SkyTeam Alliance” continued Emirsyah Satar,
“ SkyTeam Alliance members are airlines worldwide that serve 1,064 destinations in over 178 countries. And with the new Wonderful Indonesia logo part of its livery, this will truly support Indonesia’s efforts to promote the country’s many diverse and wonderful destinations and attractions to a broader based audience” said Emiryah Satar at the Press Conference.
Domestically, Garuda Indonesia has ongoing activities intensifying connectivity in this large archipelago through their Explore Indonesia program, aime at serving the more remote destinations with their Bombardier and ATR Aircrafts. These include calls on Labuan Bajo, Sumba, Bima, Tambolaka, Ende, Pinangsori Sibolga, Banyuwangi, and more.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Transportantion, Bambang Santono, also revealed that major Indonesian airports will soon similarly display the official Wonderful Indonesia tourism logo .
“Every Airport in Indonesia under the management of PT Angkasa Pura I will be ready to display the Wonderful Indonesia Logo” stated Bambang Santono at the Maintenance Control Center (MCC) of Garuda Indonesia.
Since Airports are gateways to the country for tourists to explore exciting destinations, the display of the Wonderful Indonesia logo is most important to welcome visitors and boost tourism to these islands.
The Wonderful Indonesia Logo opens holidays to exciting destinations
The new Wonderful Indonesia logo replaces the previous Visit Indonesia logo. Adapted from the mythical Garuda bird which is Indonesia’s national symbol, the Wonderful Indonesia logo promises to provide most enjoyable and memorable experiences to visitors.
The 5 colors of the Garuda’s feathers carry their own separate meaning, where blue symbolizes universality, green denotes creativity and natural friendliness, orange: innovation and rejuvenation of spirit, purple symbolizes the imagination and spiritual aspects, whilemagenta symbolizes common sense balance and practical nature.
The www.indonesia.travel website address is included in the logo to direct travelers to where they can find a treasure trove of information on all of Indonesai’s diverse destinations. . The website is a response to global trends which demands fast internet access , 24 hours a day all year round.
