The ASEAN Magazine Issue Nos. 47–48: ASEAN Tourism — A Destination for Every Dream
The ASEAN Secretariat is pleased to release The ASEAN Magazine Issue Nos. 47–48, a special year-end double edition themed “ASEAN Tourism: A Destination for Every Dream.”
This edition reflects on ASEAN’s key milestones and achievements in 2025, including Malaysia’s successful ASEAN Chairmanship, the adoption of ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future and its four Strategic Plans, as well as Timor-Leste’s admission as ASEAN’s 11th Member State at the 47th ASEAN Summit.
In this issue, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, shares insights into the region’s collective efforts to advance ASEAN’s priorities and address emerging challenges, following a media interface held ahead of the 9th ASEAN Media Forum in Kuala Lumpur in November 2025. Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, outgoing Chair of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council, also reflects on the initiatives and outcomes of the ASCC pillar, including efforts to strengthen public awareness and ownership of the ASCC Strategic Plan for the next two decades.
The edition further takes readers across Southeast Asia as tourism continues its post-pandemic recovery. Philippine Secretary of Tourism Christina Garcia Frasco, Chair of the ASEAN National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), outlines ASEAN’s efforts to build a more sustainable, resilient, and accessible tourism sector. Contributions from ASEAN NTOs highlight national tourism campaigns across the region, collectively illustrating why ASEAN truly is a destination for every dream.
The ASEAN Secretariat extends its appreciation to the Tourism Unit for its close collaboration in the development of this edition.
