From 15th to 17th May 2014, a special tourism expedition entitled Explore Indonesia will be venturing into some of the most fascinating areas in Ujung Kulon, at the western tip of Java Island. Explore Indonesia is a special tourism activity that specializes in exploring some of the most amazing hidden wonders of Indonesia which may not as yet not be widely popular.
Participants of Explore Indonesia will be taken to enjoy the pristine beauty of Peucang Island, sunrise over Bodur Beach, cruising on canoes meandering past the tropical forest along the Cigenter River (Handeleum Island), observing wild bulls and peacocks on the savannah of Cidaon Island, and cycling at the Tanjung Lesung resort complex.
Participants will also be treated with the exotic taste of fresh durian straight from the trees at Duren Jatohan Haji Syarif Pandeglang and traditional culinary delights at Bu Entin Restaurant in Serang. Renowned Indonesain travel photographer Barry Kusuma will also accompany the ‘explorers’ trip as well as give special travel photography tips in Tanjung Lesung.
Explore Indonesia intents to present an exciting expedition by combining tourism, adventure, and culture. It is a regular program which is conducted every 2 months for a total of 5 trips every year to various exotic destinations all over the Indonesian Archipelago. For each trip, Explore Indonesia invites 30-40 participants (men and women) who are adventure junkies, cycling communities, and also families. During the trip, participants receive accommodation, meals, necessary gear for each trip, and also experienced guides.
The last sanctuary of the Javan rhinoceros, the Ujung Kulon National Park is the triangular peninsula situated at the south western-most tip of Java. Ujung Kulon is Indonesia’s first and prime National Park, which was designated as a nature reserve since 1921. This is the largest remaining lowland tropical rainforest ecosystem in the western part of Java in the province of Banten. And, together with the Krakatau Islands (the remnants of the Krakatau volcano) the 137,000 hectares Park was declared Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO
