Myanmar lacks good infrastructure due to years of limited investments precipitated by economic sanctions. With political changes taking place, investors are now keen to fund the country and help in the upgrading of its infrastructure. A new airport is being built at Bago to complement Yangon’s current international airport, while Mandalay and Nay Pyi Daw are also benefitting from brand new air facilities. Another project will also see the upgrade of Bagan airport. Flying to Myanmar is becoming increasingly easy as more international airlines open routes to Yangon. A highway now connects Yangon to Mandalay via Nay Pyi Daw, while another highway project will connect Myanmar’s Andaman coast to Bangkok. They are also plans to improve communications as the Internet is still not available in many parts of the country.
