Thought-provoking and award-winning independent films from around the world from all genres of fiction, documentary, feature, and others will highlight the 8th Annual Bali International Film Festival or BALINALE 2014 that will be held from 12th to 18th October 2014 at the Beachwalk Mall, Kuta Beach, on the enchanting island of Bali.

BALINALE continues to bring an exciting mix of interesting and entertaining guests and films. This year, the event will be focused on ‘Women in Film’, acknowledging the enormous contribution women make in all aspects of the filmmaking process. Invited Indonesian and international filmmakers; writers, producers, director and actors will share their unique perspectives.

Set in the most vibrant part of Bali, the weeklong film festival will radiate its presence throughout the island with extended programs including: Free Open Air Cinema, Daily Film Screenings, Demonstrations, Film Industry Forums, Opening Night Premiere, Awards Presentation, Children’s Charity Program and a series of Educational Workshops dedicated to improve the skills of young independent Indonesian filmmakers.

The event will also be highlighted by a special pre-festival program which is the prestigious Sundance Institute Film Forward. BALINALE which will take part in its first in Indonesia international touring program by exhibiting films, workshops and conversations from 6th to 13th September 2014.

Now in its eighth year, BALINALE provides an important platform to showcase Indonesian films to a global audience while creating networks with international filmmakers. Workshops and seminars are an important part of the festival program offering students and young filmmakers an opportunity to learn from established Indonesian and international professionals. Participation by Oscar, Emmy, BAFTA and Cannes award winning Filmmakers have also helped to achieve the goals of bringing together films and their makers as a gathering of global creativity.

Bali International Film Festival, also known and registered as BALINALE, was first established in 2007 by Bali Taksu Indonesia Foundation a non-profit, non-government Indonesian registered charity organization. Known for its specialized knowledge and importance in promoting Indonesia’s film industry growth, the festival has a long history of supporting established and aspiring local filmmakers providing a platform for Indonesians while presenting a program of award winning fiction, documentary, features and short films from around the world.

BALINALE is recognized internationally for the quality and diversity of its programming and its professional delivery of the associated events. BALINALE is affiliated with Motion Picture Association, Asia Pacific Screen Awards (Brisbane, Australia), ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (Kuching, Malaysia), Asian Film Commissions Network (20 member countries) and in 2014 is supporting American Film Showcase and Sundance Institute’s Film Forward.
