ASEAN For Adventure forum to debut at PATA NTFF 2015

Published on November 18, 2015

Bangkok, 12 November 2015: All the ASEAN NTO’s have come together to organise an ASEAN Adventure Travel session, titled ‘ASEAN for Adventure: Where Horizons Are Endless.’ The session will be a part of the forthcoming PATA New Tourism Frontier Forum (NTFF) to be held in Legazpi, Philippines, on the 27th November.

The ASEAN member states are fully cognisant of the tremendous potential of adventure travel as well as eco-tourism and also, the collective advantages their combined region holds for this niche market. Hence, they have decided to go in for a marketing collaboration with PATA to use the NTFF as a platform from which to engage industry players in promoting adventure travel as a valued segment.

Said Mario Hardy, CEO, PATA: “This panel discussion adds tremendous value to our ‘New Tourism Frontiers’ forum in Legazpi. There is no doubt that emerging destinations throughout ASEAN are benefiting from the development of responsible and sustainable adventure travel programmes. We look forward to hearing the opinions of the panelists as they reflect upon their collective experiences and offer us their expert guidance on how best to broaden still further the appeal of adventure travel in a way that benefits local communities.”

The ten ASEAN countries together boast of a highly desirable tourism destination, with boundless riches in terms of adventure-filled itineraries that showcase the diversity of their landscapes. The ASEAN For Adventure panel will have three leading tour operators who specialise in soft adventure cross-border tours, to speak on the attractions of ASEAN as a world-class adventure destination, namely, Sylvain Gianni, GM of ASIAVENTURE Services, Willem Niemeijer, CEO of Khiri Travel, and Struan Robertson, CEO of SpiceRoads Cycle Tours. From cycling tours to unique adventurous experiences and responsible tourism, the speakers will elaborate on their regional know-how as well as experience of selling multi-country adventure packages, to establish a connect between industry professionals and adventure tourism in the ASEAN.

The ASEAN For Adventure forum will be held at The Oriental Legazpi Hotel on Friday, 27th November, from 11am-12pm.
