As part of a new tourism attraction in Brunei Darussalam and in collaboration with Brunei Tourism and Sha-Zan Marine Sdn Bhd, a unique river cruise was launched in early November this year. This two-hour river cruise with the vessel name MV Sentosa can accommodate a maximum of 60 passengers and has two-routes: one towards Kampong Ayer and another towards Brunei Bay. The Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar inaugurated the ship and joined its maiden two-hour cruise. AZ B2N Tour Services, the inbound tour company, is currently planning to approach hotels and tour agencies to include the river cruise into its package. In terms of the domestic market, locals are able to do walk-in bookings for the cruise and private hires are also available for the cruise services. MV Sentosa was purchased at $110,000 and the company spent an additional $420,000 to refurbish and to overhaul the ship’s interior and exterior. The ship, previously owned by the Marine Department, used to operate as a VVIP passenger lounge under the name Tanjung Bekarang.
