If Europe has Sonisphere  and Hellfest, America has Heavy Montreal and Ozzfest, the metal scene in Indonesia and Southeast Asia has its own electrifying festival: Hammersonic: Jakarta International Metal Festival.

Returning after three successful editions in previous years, this biggest metal festival in Southeast Asia is set to “blacken” the capital city of Jakarta with the loudest and most extreme metal sounds on 8th March 2015 at the D Field, Bung Karno Sports Complex.

As in previous editions, this year, the festival will feature some of the most devastating metal forces in the world that include: Lamb of God (USA), Mayhem (Norway), Ignite (USA), Vader(Poland), Unearth(USA), Deathstar(Sweden), Terrorizer(USA), Avulsed(Spain), The Faceless(USA), Warbringer(USA), Silent Knight(Australia), Anthelion(Taiwan),Cassandra(Malysia), and many more.

From Indonesia’s own stimulating metal scene, the festival will feature Roxx, Death Vomit, Beside, Thrashline, Revenge The Fate, Mesin Tempur, Straightout, Nectura, Inlander, Prosatanica, Malvomed, Demented Heart, Fraud, Warkvlt, Salahudin Al Ayubi, and Moses Bandwidth. What makes this interesting is that the Indonesian bands performing this year are those who have  never performed in both previous editions, thus the audience will be presented with a whole new fresh “metal” experience.

In total, there will be 34 rock and metal bands that will appear  on two stages: the  Hammer Stage and the Sonic Stage. The festival will also be highlighted with the  Sonicfair, a bazaar which will indulge “metalheads” with a wide selection of merchandise, musical instruments, and other “metal” goods. Adding to the flare of the festival, the audience are  also. Invited to take part in  fun contests of air guitar and metal karaoke.

Tickets are set at IDR460, 000 and can be purchased online and at several ticket boxes in Jakarta. Revision Live, as  promoters commented that over 70% of the tickets have already been sold. So, for those with a spark of “metal” in their soul; put your black shirt on, pull your long hair down, and prepare yourself  to headbang to the heavy sound of metal in the archipelago.
