Located in the upmarket West Jakarta suburb of BSD (Bumi Serpong Damai) City, construction has begun on the large Indonesia Convention and Expo (ICE) complex that is due to be ready for operations early next year 2015.
Covering 22 hectares of land with construction on 200,000 square meters, ICE will have 10 large exhibition halls of 50,000 square meters and another 500,000 sq meters outdoor exhibition space. No less than 33 convention and meeting rooms will be available with capacity for 10,000 delegates. Access to ICE is also very convenient. BSD today is immediately accessible from the Soekarno-Hatta International airport by the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR). The new toll roads to West Jakarta and Bintaro city, have also made it convenient and fast to reach this location. In this new city in the district of Tangerang, facilities keep growing to include hotels, hospitals, golf course and country club, malls with shopping centers and exclusive restaurants aplenty. Supported by good infrastructure ICE is expected to become a one-stop destination for business, tourism and of course the Meetings, Conventions and Exhibitions industry.
Total investment for this project is Rp.3. 8 trillion, and is owned by Kompas Gramedia group through PT Medialand International and Sinar Mas Land. The developers have appointed Deutsche Messe AG as Operators, the project to be managed by their subsidiary, Hannover Fairs International.
In his speech, President Director of PT Indonesia International Expo Danny Budhiharto, said that he was convinced that with the rapid growth of Indonesia’s MICE industry, ICE will meet market needs. With Indonesia’s stable economy he is confident that the Rp. 3.8 billion investments will benefit both the company and the industry.
