Indonesia’s flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has set itself the target to carry 50 thousands tourists from China to spend Chinese New Year Holidays  2015 in Indonesian destinations by the airline’s regular and charter flights from China to Indonesia.

Vice President Garuda Indonesia for China area, I Wayan Subagia,  revealed that currently, the airline’s seat occupancy rate for regular flights from China to Indonesia is at 87%.

Subagia added that for the Chinese Year Holidays Garuda Indonesia targets 16,799 international tourists from China to Indonesia carried by its regular flights.  Garuda Indonesia serves regular flights between Beijing-Jakarta, Shanghai-Jakarta, Guangzhou-Jakartaand Beijing-Bali. Meanwhile for chartered flights, Garuda Indonesia targets 27,000 international tourists from China to a number ofIndonesian destinations.

“From 29th January to 13th February, its charter flights have already transported around 5,323 passengers, with  average seat occupancy rate  of 100%” added Subagia as quoted from antaranews.com

For charter flights, Garuda Indonesia serves the routes from Harbin,  Xian, Shenyang, Chengzou,Tiayuan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Ningbo, Wuhan, and Nanjing to the island of Bali and other destinations including Manado.  “Charter flights for the Chinese New Year are effective from 29th January to 29th March 2015” , confirmed Subagia.

The  China Civil Aviation Administration has predicted that  the number of airpassengers for the Chinese New Year holidays 2015 is estimated to reach 29 million, increasing 12.5% from the previous year.

Meanwhile in Jakarta,  to further promote Chinese New Year celebrations in a number of cities in Indonesia, the Ministry of Tourism is collaborating closely with Accor hotels. 

This year, special events will be held in  MedanSoloSemarangYogyakartaPalembang, and Singkawang.  Understanding the huge potential given by this special occasion, the Ministry will  conduct a familiarization Trip from 19th February to 5 March entitled: “The Wonderful Imlek Festival in Indonesia”.

“The Imlek Chinese New Year celebration is an inseparable part of the widelydiverse cultural festivals we have in this country.  We envisage that this familiarization trip  will enhance the branding of Wonderful Indonesia” said Ratna Suranti,  Director of Indonesia Brand Image in the Ministry of Tourism.  The Kick-off event was held at the Mercure Sabang Hotel, Jakarta. Thursday, 12th February 2015  in conjunction with Accor’s Lunar New Year promotion.
