Wat Saket also known as the Golden Mount, located in Bangkok’s historic Old Town, is a temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period, crowned by a striking golden chedi. It sits atop an 80-metre artificial hill constructed during the reign of King Rama III. The temple is open to visitors and worshippers throughout the year, drawing especially large crowds in November during the Loy Krathong celebrations, when its annual fair takes place. Surrounded by mature trees, the peaceful grounds feature classic Buddhist architecture, including a main prayer hall, an ordination hall, and a library. Wat Saket remains one of Bangkok’s most notable and must-visit temples.
